Birch & Bone is one of the darker compositions in the Wendigo line. This is the complete disclosure for the 9 oz candle — every measurable variable in one place.
Wax composition
Hydrogenated coconut oil (Cocos nucifera) — 82.8% of total weight
Hydrogenated rapeseed wax (Brassica napus) — 9.2% of total weight
Total wax fraction: 92%
Both waxes are food-grade, hydrogenated to candle-suitable melt points. The coconut wax is sourced from a single supplier in Quezon Province, Philippines. The rapeseed wax is sourced from a non-GMO certified supplier in northern France.
Fragrance
IFRA 51 Amendment compliant
Phthalate-free declaration on file (excludes DEP, DEHP, DBP, BBP, DIDP, DINP)
Total fragrance fraction: 8% of total weight
Custom composition produced by fragrance house in Grasse, France

Throw specifications
Tested at 70°F ambient, 50% relative humidity, still air. Hot throw measured at 2 hours 30 minutes into burn.
Cold throw: 4/5
Hot throw at 1m: 4.5/5
Hot throw at 3m: 3/5
Time to peak hot throw: 2 hours 30 minutes
Throw spec also tested at 90°F ambient (representing warm climates or non-air-conditioned spaces):
Cold throw: 4.5/5
Hot throw at 1m: 5/5
Hot throw at 3m: 3.5/5
Usage recommendations
Effective room volume: 250–450 sq ft
Recommended burn interval: 2–4 hours
Best in cooler weather — the birch tar reads heavier in high humidity
Avoid in small bathrooms with shower humidity — composition distorts
Pairs with: Cabin (warmer heart), Black Pine (cooler counterpart)
Does not pair well with: Frozen Earth (competing base notes), Hollow (compositional dissonance)

What we do not disclose
Two items, in the spirit of being explicit about limits:
Names of individual synthetic aroma molecules within the fragrance composition. Held by the fragrance house under standard industry IP agreements. The IFRA category breakdown is the maximum disclosure available.
Specific names of our wax suppliers. Held under supply agreements. The geographic origin and certification chain are disclosed; the supplier names are not.

Batch traceability
Each candle's base is printed with a four-digit batch code. Batch records include the date of pour, the source batch numbers for wax and fragrance, the wick supply lot, and the QC inspection notes for that batch's melt pool, throw, and soot index. Records retained for 5 years.
If a candle underperforms its published spec, the batch code allows us to investigate the specific production run and replace the candle. This is the practical use of the disclosure — it lets us be held accountable to the numbers we publish.
